What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.
This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks.
- Improve age spots and black heads.
- Improve hyperpigmentation (patches of darkened skin).
- Exfoliate your skin, resulting in a refreshed appearance.
- Lessen the appearance of stretch marks.
- Reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
- Reduce or eliminate enlarged pores.
- Treat acne and the scars left by acne.
Microdermabrasion helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion. Collagen is a protein in your skin that’s abundant when you’re a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, uneven skin.
A diamond peel is a type of microdermabrasion treatment that uses the DiamondTome™ System Wand. This treatment removes the topmost layer of skin by gently exfoliating it with natural diamond chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of dead skin cells leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy, new skin cells. Microdermabrasion also stimulates the collagen beneath the surface of the skin resulting in a healthier and firmer appearance.
Who can benefit?
DiamondTome Skin Resurfacing offers benefits to anyone who wants to rejuvenate the overall health and appearance of their skin. It can also help conditions such as acne, rosacea, melasma and uneven pigment. Because it is gentle and involves no chemicals, it is ideal for people with sensitive skin and those who are pregnant.
What can I expect?
For people on the go, an exfoliation treatment using the DiamondTome Wand offers exceptional benefits. This treatment is non-invasive and painless, yet effective, and requires no downtime from work or social activities. The skin care professionals at TULA WELLNESS are trained to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment while at the same time ensuring your comfort.
Normal activities may be resumed immediately after treatment. Your skin may look slightly flushed at first but should return to normal within just 10 to 30 minutes. Your skin will have a radiant glow, free of irritation and loose particles. You can expect to experience softer, smoother, and cleaner skin after the first treatment and your improvements will continue with additional treatments.
How many treatments do I need?
Microdermabrasion is ideal for a special event or as an ongoing program for overall skin rejuvenation. The frequency and number of sessions depends on the condition being treated and your skin type. Many of our clients do monthly microdermabrasions as part of their “facial” regimen.
How does it work?
The MicroPen device works with the body’s natural immune response in a treatment called “percutaneous collagen induction therapy” (PCIT). The instrument’s tiny needles penetrate the epidermis and dermis (2 outer layers of skin) in a very controlled, precise manner. These micro-injuries to the skin stimulate the body to produce new collagen and elastin – the support system of healthy skin. As the treated area heals, smoother, more even, healthier-looking skin appears.
